Join us for this 6-week Wednesday evening pattern making and sewing group starting on 3 February 2021.
Class outline
In this group you will learn to make a perfectly fitting bodice pattern which you can use to overlay onto commercial patterns to ensure a perfect fit or as a base to design patterns for shirts and dresses.
This class is ongoing throughout the year and if you choose to continue after the initial six weeks you can go on to learn how to draft and/or make many different types of garments and many sewing techniques. You will learn in a sequential order at your own pace with increasing complexity as you go.
Learning outcomes
Working at your own pace in a small group setting, you can expect to achieve a perfectly fitting block with a sleeve within the first six weeks depending on the number of adjustments necessary. Some students need very few adjustments to have a perfect bodice within a few weeks. Others may need to make several bodices before a good fit can be achieved. It can also depend on the pace at which you work.

FAQs

Pattern making takes time to learn and you can continue in this class if you wish. If you do not renew after the initial 6 weeks you have the option to rejoin the class at a later date if a place is available.
What are the prerequisites?
A basic knowledge of sewing is necessary. Patternmaking is taught at a beginner level. If you have no sewing skills and would like to learn, please watch out for beginners sewing classes.
