New year, new classes!
Happy New Sewing Year and Decade! 2019 was an exciting and fun year for us here (not to mention interesting) and will continue to be in 2020. The regular weekly sewing group have been working on their Chanel Style Cardigan Jackets and they are finally taking shape. It’s been a long journey as we’re trying to stay as true as possible to the original Chanel Cardigan. As many of you who sew will know this is quite a long process as much of the jacket is hand sewn, and the silk charmeuse lining is quilted. It’s been particularly stressful for those of us who chose to do a plaid, LOL. But it’s onward and upward and we have given ourselves a deadline to finish them by Bastille Day 2020! New classes: January to March We have some new classes on offer this year for anyone who’s new to sewing or pattern making, and some classes that are back due to popular demand. Our beginners workshop will give you the confidence to move on and making your own clothes using a commercial pattern. If you have basic sewing skills and would like to learn how to fit and sew a skirt to a professional standard using techniques not always included with a commercial pattern, you might be interested in the Introduction to a Commercial Pattern workshop. For anyone interested in pattern making we will be running the following four classes: The Basic Skirt, The Basic Pant, The Basic Bodice (Moulage) and The Knit Top (T-Shirt). Click here for more information and registration. All classes are currently held Yarralumla until we move into new premises in Phillip when they are completed in 2021. So here’s to a new sewing decade of making yourself some wonderful new clothes. Come join us! Best wishes, Rhonda January 2020 Web version here |
